Grace Lectures - Jessica Jackson Hutchins - “The Stuff in the Room”
This Lecture by Jessica Jackson Hutchins, MFA, explores her “artwork from the last decade or so attempting to discuss how it relates to [her] spiritual journey.” Hutchins’ work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the world including Venice Biennale and Whitney Biennial. This lecture focuses on how for Hutchins, "my work has always come out of the objects and materials that I see right around me. The process of making my work is almost more just discovering the inherent, already-there, meaning of things in the room. The more uncanny and humble the object, the more that the meaning feels like an act of faith and signifies the profundity in our midst, humble and quiet." Grace Lectures are offered to the public by Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Portland, Oregon. (Vimeo)
